Enoch Pratt Free Library and A Life For A Life Foundation To Recognize World Mental Health Day
The Enoch Pratt Free Library and A Life For A Life Foundation will host an event in celebration of World Mental Health Day with national speaker and bestselling author Kevin Shird. In partnership with Community Law In Action (CLIA) and NAMI Baltimore (National Alliance on Mental Illness), the event will bring together middle and high school students from Baltimore City Public Schools for a meaningful day of dialogue, education, and empowerment focusing on mental health awareness and positive life choices.
World Mental Health Day is an international day for destigmatizing mental health by promoting understanding, connection and support for people facing mental health challenges across the world. This event will be a youth-focused event centered on trauma, healing and personal growth. All 400 students in attendance will receive a free copy of Kevin Shird’s newest book, A Life For A Life: Poor Choices and Unresolved Trauma is Killing America. The book explores how unexplored trauma effects underserved communities and will be discussed along with broader themes of trauma recovery, redemption and community transformation. A youth panel discussion will be held with discussion topics of destigmatizing mental health and the power of positive choices.
